Thymogen is a Khavinson immune peptide bioregulator — the synthetic dipeptide L-Glutamyl-L-Tryptophan (Glu-Trp, "EW"), a thymus-derived immunomodulator also sold as "Thymagen." It has a defined chemical identity (PubChem CID 100094).

Thymogen is a dipeptide originally isolated from the calf-thymus peptide complex Thymalin and then synthesized. It acts as an immunomodulator: the literature describes activation of T-cell differentiation and T-cell recognition of peptide–MHC complexes, shifts in intracellular cyclic-nucleotide balance, and stimulation of neutrophil chemotaxis and phagocytosis. Like other Khavinson ultrashort peptides, it is proposed to act at very low concentrations as a regulatory/gene-expression signal in immune tissue.
Thymogen is one of the better-documented compounds in the Khavinson family, and its indexed literature is genuinely on-topic. It has a defined chemical identity (PubChem CID 100094) and a real pharmaceutical history: derived from Thymalin, synthesized in the late 1980s, and in Russian medical use as an immunomodulator since 1990. Recent peer-reviewed work (2023–2025) has examined Thymogen and its D-Ala analogues for hepatoprotective and antioxidant effects in rat liver-damage models, its chiral counterpart Thymodepressin (an immunosuppressant — the "reciprocal" activity), and its behavior among ultrashort regulatory peptides.
Epistemic caveat: even so, the evidence base is predominantly from the Khavinson tradition and Russian research/clinical practice. Western randomized controlled trials are absent; much of the efficacy record is animal-model or regional clinical use rather than independent RCT data.
In Russian clinical use, Thymogen has been given as intramuscular injection, intranasal spray, and topical forms, at low microgram doses in short courses (commonly several-day to ~10-day cycles) for immune support during infections. These reflect its registered regional use, not Western-trial-validated protocols.
No controlled combination trials. It is discussed alongside other Khavinson peptides (Thymalin, Vilon, Epitalon) and a more potent analogue, Bestim (gamma-Glu-Trp, reported at least 500x more potent), but co-administration efficacy is not established in controlled research.
A registered immunomodulator in Russia (multiple dosage forms) but not FDA/EMA-approved; sold research-use-only in Western markets. Reported as well tolerated in its regional clinical history; no rigorous independent Western safety dataset. Note its chiral mirror Thymodepressin has the opposite (immunosuppressive) effect — chirality matters for this molecule.
